Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pockets

Posted on March 18, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pockets—crispy, buttery, and cheesy inside:

Ingredients (makes 4–6 pockets)

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 4–6 slices of ham
  • 4–6 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Optional: Dijon mustard or honey mustard for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
    • Preheat to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare puff pastry:
    • Roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly on a lightly floured surface.
    • Cut into 4–6 squares (depending on desired size).
  3. Assemble the pockets:
    • Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese in the center of each square.
    • Optional: Spread a thin layer of mustard under the ham or cheese.
    • Fold the pastry over to form a triangle or rectangle. Press edges with a fork to seal.
  4. Egg wash:
    • Beat the egg and brush the tops of the pockets to give a golden, shiny finish.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake 15–20 minutes or until puff pastry is golden and fully cooked.
  6. Serve:
    • Let cool 2–3 minutes before serving. Perfect warm as a snack, breakfast, or lunch.

Tips

  • Make sure the puff pastry is cold when handling for maximum flakiness.
  • Add herbs like thyme or chives for extra flavor.
  • You can also add sautéed onions, spinach, or mushrooms for variation.
  • Freeze unbaked pockets and bake later for a quick snack.

If you want, I can also give a mini party-sized version with bite-sized pockets that are perfect for appetizers or a brunch spread. Do you want that version?
