Tortilla wraps with ground beef

Here’s a classic tortilla wrap with seasoned ground beef that works for weeknights, meal prep, or build-your-own wraps.


Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (if beef is lean)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce or salsa
  • 8 flour tortillas (soft taco or burrito size)

Optional toppings:

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded cheese (cheddar, Mexican blend)
  • Sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • Salsa or hot sauce
  • Avocado or guacamole

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef:
    Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add oil if needed, then onion. Cook 2–3 minutes until soft.
    Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  2. Season:
    Add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up. Drain excess fat if needed.
    Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Sauce it:
    Add tomato sauce or salsa. Simmer 3–5 minutes until flavorful and slightly saucy.
  4. Warm tortillas:
    Heat tortillas in a dry pan or microwave until soft and pliable.
  5. Assemble wraps:
    Spoon beef into tortillas, add toppings, fold, and enjoy.

Wrap Variations

  • Cheesy beef wrap: Add cheese to the tortilla and warm before filling.
  • Tex-Mex style: Add corn, black beans, and a squeeze of lime.
  • Spicy: Add chipotle powder or jalapeños.
  • Meal-prep friendly: Keep beef separate and assemble fresh.
