Taco cupcakes are a fun, savory twist on classic tacos—perfect for parties, game day, or a creative dinner. Ground beef (or chicken) is baked in a cupcake liner, topped with cheese, and garnished like a mini taco.


🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or ground chicken
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade: chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper)
  • 12 large flour tortillas or taco shells (cut to fit cupcake tins)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup salsa
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced olives, guacamole

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a 12-cup muffin tin.

2. Prepare Meat

  1. Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
  2. Drain excess fat and stir in taco seasoning (and a bit of water if needed).
  3. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until well coated.

3. Assemble Taco Cupcakes

  1. Cut tortillas into circles slightly larger than muffin cups.
  2. Press a tortilla circle into each muffin cup to form a shell.
  3. Spoon seasoned meat into each shell.
  4. Top with cheese.

4. Bake

  • Bake 12–15 minutes until cheese is melted and edges of tortillas are lightly crispy.

5. Garnish & Serve

  • Let cool slightly before removing from muffin tin.
  • Top with sour cream, salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, or guacamole.
  • Serve as fun appetizers or a main dish.

  • For extra flavor, use corn tortillas for a traditional taco taste.
  • Brush tortilla edges lightly with olive oil before baking for crispier cups.
  • You can also add black beans, corn, or jalapeños for variety.
