Ah yes—tacos 🌮—simple, customizable, and endlessly delicious! Here’s a basic guide for making classic tacos at home.


🌮 Classic Taco

Ingredients (per 2–3 servings)

  • 1 lb ground beef, chicken, or turkey (or cooked shredded meat)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning or homemade (see below)
  • 8 small tortillas (corn or flour)
  • Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, jalapeños
  • Optional: lime wedges

Homemade taco seasoning

  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the meat
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat until browned. Drain excess fat.
    • Add taco seasoning and ½ cup water. Simmer 5 minutes until thickened.
  2. Warm tortillas
    • Heat in a skillet for 30 seconds per side, or wrap in foil and warm in the oven.
  3. Assemble tacos
    • Spoon meat into tortillas.
    • Add desired toppings.
    • Squeeze lime over top if desired.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Crunchy taco shell: bake soft tortillas at 375°F for 5–7 minutes in a taco shape.
  • Vegetarian: use black beans, lentils, or sautéed veggies instead of meat.
  • Fusion taco: top with slaw, spicy mayo, or pickled onions for extra flavor.
  • Seafood taco: use shrimp or fish with a garlic-lime sauce.
