Steak and Cheese Shells Pasta

Posted on March 25, 2026 by Admin

Pepper steak is a classic stir-fry dish featuring sliced beef, bell peppers, and onions cooked in a flavorful, savory sauce. It’s quick, easy, and perfect served over rice or noodles.

Key Features

  • Main Ingredients: Beef (typically flank or sirloin), bell peppers, onions, garlic
  • Sauce: Soy sauce-based, often with garlic, ginger, and a touch of sweetness
  • Cooking Method: Stir-fried over high heat for tender beef and crisp-tender vegetables
  • Serving: Usually with steamed rice or noodles

Simple Pepper Steak Recipe (Serves 4)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef:
    • Toss sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and cornstarch. Set aside 10–15 minutes.
  2. Cook beef:
    • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet or wok over high heat.
    • Stir-fry beef 2–3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook vegetables:
    • Add remaining oil. Stir-fry bell peppers, onions, and garlic 2–3 minutes until slightly tender.
  4. Combine and make sauce:
    • Return beef to the skillet.
    • Add beef broth, remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sugar.
    • Cook 2–3 more minutes until sauce thickens slightly and beef is cooked through.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

✅ Tip: For extra flavor, marinate beef with a splash of sesame oil and some freshly ground black pepper. Use high heat for quick cooking to keep the beef tender.

I can also give a slow-cooker version of pepper steak that’s rich and tender if you want a hands-off approach.
