Here’s a simple, classic Spaghetti with Garlic Bread meal—perfect for family dinner night 🍝🥖

🍝 Classic Spaghetti with Marinara Sauce

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340 g) spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (28 oz / 800 g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, balances acidity)
  • Fresh parsley or grated Parmesan for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
    • Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente.
    • Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain.
  2. Make the sauce
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Sauté onion until soft (3–4 minutes).
    • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
    • Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, basil, oregano, and sugar.
    • Simmer 15–20 minutes.
  3. Combine
    • Add drained pasta to sauce and toss.
    • Use a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to loosen sauce.

🥖 Garlic Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix softened butter, garlic, parsley, and salt.
  3. Slice bread in half lengthwise. Spread garlic butter evenly over cut sides.
  4. Bake 10–12 minutes until golden.
  5. Optional: Broil 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness. Slice and serve.

💡 Make it heartier:

  • Add browned ground beef or Italian sausage to the sauce.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella on garlic bread during the last 2 minutes of baking for cheesy garlic bread.

If you’d like, I can give a creamy garlic Parmesan spaghetti version instead — rich and restaurant-style.
