Here’s a simple, classic spaghetti recipe 🍝

Classic Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 400 g (14 oz) spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (400 g / 14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper
  • Optional: chili flakes, basil or oregano
  • Grated Parmesan, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook spaghetti in well-salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain.
  2. Make sauce: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook ~30 seconds (don’t brown).
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, and optional chili flakes/herbs. Simmer 10–15 minutes.
  4. Combine spaghetti with sauce, adding a splash of pasta water if needed.
  5. Serve hot with Parmesan and fresh basil.

Variations

  • Spaghetti Aglio e Olio: Olive oil, garlic, chili flakes, parsley.
  • Spaghetti Bolognese: Add browned ground beef and onion.
  • Creamy Garlic Spaghetti: Add cream and butter.
  • Vegetarian: Add mushrooms, zucchini, or spinach.
