Posted on April 5, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a hearty, comforting Smoked Sausage and Potato Bake—crispy edges, smoky flavor, and super easy to throw together.

🥔 Smoked Sausage & Potato Bake

Ingredients (serves 4–5)

  • 500 g (1 lb) smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, diced (skin on or off)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika (smoked if possible)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning
  • Optional: 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • Set to 200°C (400°F). Lightly grease a baking dish or sheet pan.
  2. Prep everything
    • In a large bowl, combine potatoes, sausage, onion, garlic, and optional bell peppers.
  3. Season
    • Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle paprika, salt, pepper, and herbs.
    • Toss well so everything is evenly coated.
  4. Bake
    • Spread in a single layer.
    • Bake for 35–45 minutes, stirring halfway through, until potatoes are tender and golden.
  5. Add cheese (optional)
    • Sprinkle cheese on top and bake another 5 minutes until melted.
  6. Serve
    • Serve hot, optionally with a side salad or a fried egg on top.

🔥 Flavor Variations

  • Spicy version: Add chili flakes or sliced green chilies
  • Garlic butter: Toss with melted butter + extra garlic at the end
  • Creamy version: Stir in a little cream or sour cream before serving
  • Mustard twist: Add 1 tbsp whole-grain mustard before baking

✅ Tips

  • Cut potatoes evenly so they cook at the same rate
  • Parboil potatoes for 5–7 minutes if you want extra soft centers + crispy edges
  • Use any smoked sausage you like (beef, chicken, or turkey)

If you want, I can give you a one-pan stovetop version or a crockpot version for even easier cooking.
