Slow cooker ribs

Posted on March 2, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple and delicious way to make slow cooker ribs that are tender and flavorful:

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 2–3 lbs (900–1350 g) pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper for a kick

Instructions

  1. Prep the ribs:
    • Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for more tender meat.
    • Mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne in a small bowl.
    • Rub the spice mix evenly over both sides of the ribs.
  2. Slow cook:
    • Place the ribs in the slow cooker. If needed, cut them into sections to fit.
    • Pour about 1/4–1/2 cup of water or apple juice at the bottom to keep them moist.
    • Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
  3. Add barbecue sauce:
    • About 30 minutes before serving, brush the ribs generously with barbecue sauce.
    • Cover and cook for the remaining time.
  4. Optional finishing step:
    • Preheat your oven broiler or grill.
    • Transfer the ribs to a baking sheet and brush with more sauce.
    • Broil or grill 3–5 minutes until the sauce caramelizes and becomes sticky.
  5. Serve:
    • Let ribs rest a few minutes, then slice between the bones and enjoy!

✅ Tips:

  • For extra flavor, marinate ribs with dry rub overnight before cooking.
  • Leftovers are great for sandwiches or tacos.

If you want, I can also give a variant for Asian-style slow cooker ribs with soy sauce, honey, and ginger — really flavorful and tender.

Do you want me to give that version too?
