Shepherd’s pie

Posted on February 5, 2026 by Admin

Shepherd’s pie 🥧🥔
Pure comfort food—savory, cozy, “just one more bite” energy.

What it is (classic):

  • Ground lamb (beef makes it cottage pie, but we won’t fight today 😄)
  • Onion, carrots, peas
  • Rich gravy with Worcestershire + herbs
  • Fluffy mashed potatoes baked on top till golden

Basic flow:

  1. Brown meat with onions and garlic.
  2. Add carrots, peas, tomato paste, Worcestershire, thyme.
  3. Splash of broth → simmer till thick.
  4. Spread in a dish, top with mash.
  5. Bake until bubbling, broil for crispy peaks.

Next-level touches:

  • Cheddar or parmesan in the potatoes
  • Butter + egg yolk in the mash for extra richness
  • Fork the top for crunchy ridges

Serve with:
Green beans, crusty bread, or honestly… just a big spoon.

Want traditional Irish, weeknight shortcut, or shepherd’s pie with a twist (like sweet potato or Guinness)?
