🍳🐟 Salmon Patties, Grits, and Eggs is a hearty Southern-style breakfast that’s flavorful, filling, and fairly simple to make. It’s a classic comfort meal in parts of the Southern United States.


🐟 Salmon Patties

Ingredients

  • 1 can salmon (about 14–15 oz), drained
  • 1 egg
  • Β½ cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped onion
  • Β½ tsp garlic powder
  • Β½ tsp black pepper
  • Β½ tsp salt (optional)
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for moisture)
  • 2–3 tbsp oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, remove large bones from the salmon (the soft bones are edible if mashed).
  2. Add egg, breadcrumbs/crackers, onion, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and mayo.
  3. Mix well and form small patties.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.

🌽 Grits

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grits
  • 4 cups water or milk
  • Β½ tsp salt
  • 1–2 tbsp butter
  • Optional: shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Bring water or milk to a boil with salt.
  2. Slowly whisk in the grits.
  3. Reduce heat to low and cook 15–20 minutes, stirring often.
  4. Stir in butter (and cheese if desired).

🍳 Eggs

Cook eggs however you like:

  • Scrambled with butter
  • Sunny-side up
  • Over easy

Quick scrambled method:

  1. Beat 2–3 eggs with a pinch of salt.
  2. Melt butter in a pan over medium heat.
  3. Cook eggs, stirring gently until soft and fluffy.

  • Spoon grits onto a plate or bowl.
  • Add salmon patties on the side.
  • Top with eggs.
  • Optional: hot sauce, cheese, or green onions.
