Salmon Patties 🐟🍽️
Salmon patties are savory, pan-fried cakes made from canned or cooked salmon, mixed with breadcrumbs, eggs, and seasonings. They’re a quick and budget-friendly way to enjoy seafood.
Ingredients
- 2 cans (14–15 oz) canned salmon, drained and flaked
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil or butter for frying
- Optional: chopped parsley or lemon juice for flavor
Instructions
- Prepare the mixture
In a bowl, combine flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. If too wet, add more breadcrumbs. - Form patties
Shape mixture into 6–8 evenly sized patties. - Cook the patties
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through. - Serve
Place on a paper towel briefly to remove excess oil, then serve hot.
Serving Ideas 🍽️
- Serve with tartar sauce or a squeeze of lemon
- Pair with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables
- Make a salmon burger by placing the patty on a bun with lettuce and tomato
💡 Tip:
- For extra crispiness, lightly coat patties with additional breadcrumbs before frying.
- You can also bake them at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through, for a healthier version.
