🐟 Salmon Patties

Salmon patties are crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and make a quick, nutritious meal. They’re perfect for lunch, dinner, or even as a party appetizer.

🥄 Ingredients

  • 2 cans (14–15 oz) salmon, drained and flaked (or 1 lb cooked fresh salmon, flaked)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or panko for extra crunch)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2–3 tbsp oil for frying
  • Fresh parsley or dill for garnish

Optional add-ins: chopped bell peppers, celery, or spices like paprika, cayenne, or Old Bay

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Mixture

  1. In a bowl, combine salmon, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, mayonnaise, mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix gently until evenly combined. Avoid overmixing to keep patties tender.

2️⃣ Shape the Patties

  1. Form mixture into 4–6 patties, about ¾–1 inch thick.
  2. If too sticky, add a little more breadcrumbs.

3️⃣ Cook the Patties

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Fry patties 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Drain on paper towels.

🍽️ Serving Tips

  • Serve with tartar sauce, lemon wedges, or a yogurt dill sauce.
  • Pair with salad, roasted vegetables, or rice.
  • Can also be served on burger buns for a salmon sandwich.

💡 Tips

  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
  • Gently fold in ingredients to maintain texture.
  • Salmon patties can be baked at 400°F / 200°C for 15–20 minutes for a lighter version.
