Salisbury steak πŸ₯©πŸ²

Salisbury steak is a classic comfort dish made from seasoned ground beef patties served with a rich brown onion gravy. It’s similar to a hamburger steak but usually includes breadcrumbs and seasonings mixed into the meat.

Ingredients

For the Steaks

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Β½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Β½ tsp garlic powder
  • Β½ tsp black pepper
  • Β½ tsp salt

For the Gravy

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Make the patties
In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Shape the steaks
Form the mixture into 4 oval patties.
  3. Brown the patties
Cook them in a skillet over medium heat for 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Cook the onions
In the same pan, melt butter and cook sliced onions (and mushrooms if using) until soft.
  5. Make the gravy
Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir for 1 minute. Slowly add beef broth while stirring.
  6. Simmer
Return the patties to the pan and simmer 10–15 minutes until the gravy thickens and the meat is cooked through.
