Classic Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temp
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, room temp
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a loaf or bundt pan.
- Cream butter & sugar until pale and fluffy (about 4 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
- Mix in vanilla.
- Fold in flour and salt just until combined—don’t overmix.
- Bake
- Loaf pan: 70–80 minutes
- Bundt pan: 60–70 minutes
- Cool 10–15 minutes, then turn out.
Tips for Perfect Pound Cake
- Low & slow oven = tight crumb
- Room-temp ingredients matter
- If it browns too fast, tent loosely with foil
