Potato fritters are crispy, golden bites of grated or mashed potato mixed with spices and sometimes flour or egg—perfect as a snack, breakfast, or side dish.

🥔 Potato Fritters Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2–3 medium potatoes (grated or mashed)
  • 1 small onion (grated or finely chopped)
  • 1 egg
  • 2–3 tbsp flour (or cornflour)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander (optional)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes. Squeeze out excess water using a cloth.
  2. In a bowl, mix potatoes, onion, egg, flour, salt, pepper, chili, and coriander.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  4. Scoop a spoonful of the mixture, flatten slightly, and fry for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crisp.
  5. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • With ketchup, garlic mayo, or yogurt dip
  • Alongside eggs for breakfast
  • As a side with curry or grilled meat

  • Cheesy potato fritters: Add shredded cheese to the mixture
  • Spicy: Add green chilies or chili flakes
  • Herby: Add thyme, oregano, or parsley

  • Squeeze out excess water from potatoes for crispier fritters
  • Medium heat works best—too high burns outside, too low makes them soggy
