🎵 “Pork and Beans” – Weezer (2008)

“Pork and Beans” is a song by Weezer, released in 2008 as the lead single from their self-titled sixth album, commonly called the Red Album.

🔹 Background

The song was reportedly written after the band’s record label (Geffen Records) encouraged them to create more commercially radio-friendly material. Instead, frontman Rivers Cuomo wrote “Pork and Beans” as a defiant anthem about staying true to yourself.

🔹 Meaning

The lyrics focus on:

  • Individuality
  • Ignoring trends
  • Not caring about public approval

One of the key lines:

“I’ma do the things that I wanna do…”

It’s essentially about embracing who you are — even if others don’t approve.

🔹 Iconic Music Video

The music video became famous for featuring viral internet personalities of the time, including:

  • Chris Crocker
  • Tay Zonday
  • Gary Brolsma

It won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video.

If you meant something else by “Pork and Beans” (like the food dish), let me know and I’ll switch gears 🙂
