Philly cheesesteak bread

Posted on March 10, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a delicious Philly Cheesesteak Bread recipe — all the flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak in a pull-apart, cheesy bread loaf 🥖🧀🥩.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread or Italian bread
  • 300–400 g thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin works best)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 2–3 tbsp mayonnaise or cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

2. Cook the filling

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onion and bell pepper until soft.
  3. Add thinly sliced beef, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and cook until beef is browned.

3. Prepare the bread

  1. Slice the loaf lengthwise, keeping it in one piece (like a hinge).
  2. Hollow out some of the soft center if needed to make room for the filling.

4. Assemble

  • Spread mayonnaise or cream cheese on the bread if using.
  • Add the cooked beef, onion, and peppers evenly.
  • Top with shredded cheese.

5. Bake

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Serve

  • Slice into portions and serve hot.
  • Optional: garnish with fresh parsley or hot sauce.

💡 Tips

  • For extra gooeyness, use a mix of provolone and mozzarella.
  • You can also make mini cheesesteak bread rolls for parties or snacks.
  • If you like it extra crispy, toast the bread lightly before adding the filling.

I can also give you a slow-cooker version of Philly cheesesteak filling that makes this bread even easier to assemble.

Do you want me to share that version?
