Onion Sausages

Here’s a clear and tasty way to make Onion Sausages — juicy, flavorful, and perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, or dinner 🌭🧅.


Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 500 g pork sausages (or your preferred sausage)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary (optional)

Instructions

1. Cook the sausages

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add sausages and cook 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and fully cooked through.

2. Cook the onions

  • Remove sausages from the pan and set aside.
  • Add sliced onions, sprinkle with garlic powder, black pepper, and herbs if using.
  • Sauté 5–7 minutes until onions are soft and lightly caramelized.

3. Combine and serve

  • Return sausages to the pan and toss with onions for 1–2 minutes.
  • Serve hot with mashed potatoes, bread rolls, or eggs.

💡 Tips

  • Slice sausages before cooking for faster cooking and more surface flavor.
  • Add a teaspoon of brown sugar to onions for extra caramelization.
  • Can also bake in the oven at 190°C (375°F) for 20–25 minutes and top with sautéed onions.
