Back to the classics—meatloaf done right. 🍖 This one is juicy, flavorful, and never dry.
Classic Homestyle Meatloaf
Ingredients (serves 4–6):
- 1½ lb ground beef (80/20 works best)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
- ½ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Glaze:
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp mustard
Instructions:
- Preheat oven: 350°F (175°C).
- Make the meat mixture:
- In a large bowl, mix breadcrumbs and milk. Let soak 1 minute.
- Add egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper.
- Gently mix in ground beef until just combined (don’t overmix).
- Shape:
- Form into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan or on a lined baking sheet.
- Glaze it:
- Mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread over the top.
- Bake:
- Bake 55–65 minutes, until internal temp hits 160°F (71°C).
- Rest:
- Let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing to keep it juicy.
💡 Make it next-level:
- Swap half the beef for ground pork → extra juicy.
- Add shredded cheese inside for a cheesy meatloaf surprise.
- Sauté the onions first for sweeter, deeper flavor.
If you want, I can do a cheese-stuffed meatloaf, BBQ-glazed meatloaf, or even a slow-cooker meatloaf version. Just say the word 😄
