Here’s a classic, juicy Meatloaf recipe—comfort food at its best 🍞🥩

Classic Meatloaf (Serves 6)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg (2.2 lb) ground beef (or mix with ground pork for extra flavor)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning (optional)

For the glaze:

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • 180°C / 350°F. Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Mix meatloaf
    • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, eggs, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and herbs.
    • Mix gently until just combined—overmixing makes it dense.
  3. Shape and glaze
    • Form mixture into a loaf in the prepared pan.
    • Mix glaze ingredients and spread half over the top.
  4. Bake
    • Bake 45 minutes, then spread remaining glaze on top.
    • Bake another 15–20 minutes until internal temperature reaches 75°C / 165°F.
  5. Rest & serve
    • Let meatloaf rest 10 minutes before slicing.
    • Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or gravy.

Tips

  • Don’t overmix the meat—keeps it tender
  • Add extra flavor: diced bell peppers, shredded carrots, or a handful of cheese
  • Use a meat thermometer to avoid drying out the loaf

Variations

  • Italian-style: Add marinara sauce and mozzarella
  • BBQ: Use barbecue sauce instead of ketchup glaze
  • Turkey meatloaf: Substitute ground turkey for a lighter version

I can also give a restaurant-style, extra-moist meatloaf version that stays juicy and flavorful.

Do you want me to do that?
