Posted on February 24, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Macaroni and Cheese recipe — creamy, cheesy, and perfect as a side or main dish. 🧀🍝

🧀 Classic Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or mix of cheddar & Monterey Jack)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp paprika (optional)
  • Optional topping: ½ cup breadcrumbs mixed with 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Pasta

  1. Boil macaroni according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Make the Cheese Sauce

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
  2. Whisk in flour and cook 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Slowly whisk in milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  4. Cook 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika.

3️⃣ Combine Pasta and Sauce

  1. Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until evenly coated.
  2. Optional: Transfer to a greased baking dish and sprinkle with breadcrumb topping.

4️⃣ Bake (Optional)

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly for a baked mac & cheese version.

Tips

  • For extra creamy mac & cheese, add a splash of cream or extra cheese to the sauce.
  • Mix in extras like cooked bacon, sautéed onions, or steamed broccoli.
  • Use sharp cheddar for more flavor, or mix cheeses for a richer taste.

If you want, I can also give you a stovetop 15-minute creamy mac & cheese that doesn’t require baking.
