Macaroni and cheese

Posted on March 7, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, creamy Macaroni and Cheese recipe—rich, cheesy, and perfect as a main dish or side. 🧀🍝

Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese (optional, for extra stretch)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional topping:

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni
Boil macaroni in salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the cheese sauce
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute to make a roux.
  3. Add milk
Slowly whisk in milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens (about 3–5 minutes).
  4. Add cheese and seasoning
Stir in cheddar and mozzarella until melted and smooth. Add garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Combine pasta and sauce
Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well.
  6. Optional baked version
    • Pour into a greased baking dish.
    • Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle on top.
    • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes until golden.

💡 Tips

  • Mix cheeses like cheddar, gouda, or Monterey Jack for deeper flavor.
  • Add cooked bacon, chicken, or broccoli to turn it into a full meal. 🥦🥓
  • A pinch of mustard powder enhances the cheese flavor.
