Honey-glazed ham

Ingredients

  • 1 fully cooked ham (about 2–3 kg)
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground cloves (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Ham

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Place the ham in a roasting pan.
  • Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern with a knife (this helps the glaze soak in).

2. Make the Honey Glaze

  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Stir in honey, brown sugar, mustard, and spices.
  • Cook for 2–3 minutes until smooth and slightly thick.

3. Bake the Ham

  • Brush some glaze over the ham.
  • Cover loosely with foil and bake 45–60 minutes.

4. Glaze Again

  • Remove foil and brush more glaze over the ham.
  • Bake uncovered 15–20 minutes more, brushing with glaze every 5–10 minutes until shiny and caramelized.

5. Serve

  • Let the ham rest 10 minutes, then slice and serve.
