Here’s a classic homemade white bread recipe—soft, fluffy, and perfect for sandwiches or toast:


🍞 Homemade White Bread

🔹 Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for kneading)
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)

🔹 Instructions

1. Activate yeast

  • In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast
  • Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy

2. Make the dough

  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt
  • Add yeast mixture and softened butter
  • Stir until a rough dough forms

3. Knead

  • Turn dough onto floured surface
  • Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic

4. First rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth
  • Let rise 1–2 hours, until doubled in size

5. Shape & second rise

  • Punch down dough
  • Shape into a loaf and place in greased 9×5-inch loaf pan
  • Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes

6. Bake

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
  • Bake 30–35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped
  • Optional: brush top with butter immediately for soft crust

7. Cool

  • Remove from pan and cool on wire rack before slicing

🔹 Tips

  • For softer bread, replace ¼ cup of water with milk
  • Don’t rush the rising—flavor and texture depend on it
  • Store tightly wrapped to keep soft
