🍬 Homemade Toffee

Homemade toffee is a rich, buttery candy with a crisp texture that melts in your mouth. It can be plain, or topped with chocolate, nuts, or sea salt for extra indulgence.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or sea salt

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare Pan

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  • Lightly grease or butter the surface.

2. Cook the Toffee

  1. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine butter, sugar, water, and salt.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until butter melts.
  3. Bring to a boil and cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

3. Add Toppings (Optional)

  • Pour toffee onto prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle with chocolate chips; let melt, then spread smooth.
  • Sprinkle nuts or sea salt over the chocolate while warm.

4. Cool and Break

  • Allow to cool completely (1–2 hours).
  • Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

⭐ Pro Tips:

  • Use a heavy-bottomed pan to prevent burning.
  • Stir constantly, especially as it nears 300°F, to avoid scorching.
  • Do not taste-test the toffee until fully cooled—it’s extremely hot!
  • For a classic variation, dip pieces in melted chocolate for a richer treat.

I can also provide a buttery, chocolate-dipped homemade toffee recipe that’s extra crisp and perfect for gifting.
