Here’s a soft, tender Homemade Sweet Bread recipe — slightly sweet, buttery, and perfect for breakfast or snacks 🍞✨

Homemade Sweet Bread

Serves: 8–10
Time: ~2 hours (including rising)

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs

For Brushing:

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: sugar or cinnamon sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

1️⃣ Activate Yeast

  • In a small bowl, combine warm milk, a pinch of sugar, and yeast.
  • Let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.

2️⃣ Make the Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs.
  • Stir until a dough forms.

3️⃣ Knead

  • Knead dough on a floured surface 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size.

4️⃣ Shape & Second Rise

  • Punch down dough and shape into a loaf (or rolls).
  • Place in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet.
  • Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes, until puffy.

5️⃣ Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).

6️⃣ Brush & Bake

  • Brush top with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar if desired.
  • Bake 25–30 minutes (loaf) or 15–20 minutes (rolls), until golden brown.
  • Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.

Tips & Variations

  • Add ½ cup raisins, cranberries, or chopped nuts for extra flavor.
  • Brush with melted butter immediately after baking for a soft, shiny crust.
  • For a sweeter bread, increase sugar to ⅓ cup and sprinkle a cinnamon-sugar mix on top.

If you want, I can also give a quick one-hour sweet bread recipe that skips long rising times using a warm environment or slightly more yeast for faster results.
