🍕 Homemade Pizza

Make fresh, crispy, and customizable pizza right in your own kitchen — from dough to toppings.


🛒 Ingredients (Makes 1 large 12–14” pizza)

For the dough:

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)

For the sauce:

  • 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Toppings:

  • 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni, sausage, vegetables, olives, or any preferred toppings
  • Fresh basil or arugula (optional, added after baking)

🔥 Instructions

1️⃣ Make the dough

  • In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Cover and let rise 1–2 hours, until doubled in size.

2️⃣ Prepare the sauce

  • Mix crushed tomatoes, garlic, oregano, salt, sugar, and olive oil. Set aside.

3️⃣ Preheat oven

  • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

4️⃣ Shape the dough

  • Punch down risen dough and roll or stretch into a 12–14” circle on parchment or a floured surface.

5️⃣ Assemble pizza

  • Spread sauce evenly over dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  • Sprinkle cheese and arrange toppings.

6️⃣ Bake

  • Bake 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.

7️⃣ Serve

  • Slice and enjoy! Add fresh herbs or a drizzle of olive oil if desired.

🌿 Tips & Variations

  • For extra crispy crust, pre-bake dough 5 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Try whole wheat flour or half whole wheat for a healthier crust.
  • Experiment with sauces: pesto, barbecue, or white garlic sauce.
