Here’s a simple recipe for soft, homemade Hamburger Buns—perfect for burgers, sandwiches, or sliders.

Ingredients (Makes 8 buns)

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • Optional topping: sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast:
    • In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Make the dough:
    • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
    • Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead:
    • Knead on a floured surface 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise:
    • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled.
  5. Shape buns:
    • Punch down dough, divide into 8 equal pieces, and shape into round buns.
    • Place on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Second rise:
    • Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes until puffy.
  7. Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Optional: brush tops with milk or egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds.
    • Bake 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool:
    • Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Tips & Variations

  • For extra soft buns, replace half the milk with yogurt or buttermilk.
  • Add a pinch of garlic or onion powder for a savory flavor.
  • Freeze baked buns for up to 3 months; thaw and warm before serving.

✅ Serving Idea: Perfect for classic hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, or breakfast sliders.
