Fried Bologna Sandwich.

Posted on January 23, 2026 by Admin

Ohhh, classic comfort food right there 😄
Here’s a crispy, old-school Fried Bologna Sandwich—simple, salty, and nostalgic.

Fried Bologna Sandwich

Ingredients (makes 1 sandwich)

  • 1–2 thick slices bologna
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil
  • 2 slices white bread
  • 1 slice American or cheddar cheese (optional but highly recommended)
  • Optional toppings:
    • Mustard
    • Mayo
    • Pickles
    • Fried egg

Instructions

  1. Prep the bologna:
    • Cut a small “X” or slit in the middle of each bologna slice (prevents curling).
  2. Fry the bologna:
    • Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add bologna and cook 2–3 minutes per side until browned and crispy on the edges.
  3. Add cheese (optional):
    • Place cheese on top of the bologna during the last minute.
    • Cover pan briefly to help it melt.
  4. Toast the bread (optional but great):
    • Toast bread lightly in the same pan or in a toaster.
  5. Assemble the sandwich:
    • Spread mustard or mayo on the bread.
    • Add fried bologna (and fried egg if using).
    • Top with pickles if you like a little crunch.
  6. Serve hot:
    • Best eaten immediately while the bologna is crispy.

Pro Tips

  • Thick-cut bologna = BEST flavor and texture
  • American cheese gives the most nostalgic diner taste
  • Want extra indulgence? Butter the bread and grill the whole sandwich like a grilled cheese

If you want, I can give you a Southern-style fried bologna sandwich with onions and mustard, or a loaded version with egg, cheese, and bacon.

Just say the word 👌🥪
