French toast

Here’s a classic French Toast recipe—simple, delicious, and perfect for breakfast or brunch:

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 4 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or brioche)
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, honey, fresh fruits, powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Make the batter:
    • In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  2. Dip the bread:
    • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly. Let it soak for a few seconds.
  3. Cook the French toast:
    • Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add butter or oil.
    • Cook each slice for 2–3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve hot with maple syrup, fresh berries, or a dusting of powdered sugar.

Tips:

  • Stale bread works best because it absorbs the batter without falling apart.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute milk with cream or half-and-half.
  • Add a little nutmeg or orange zest to the batter for a flavor twist.

If you want, I can also give a savory French toast version using herbs, cheese, and spices instead of sugar.

Do you want me to do that?
