French Toast

Posted on February 28, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, fluffy, and sweet French Toast recipe perfect for breakfast or brunch:

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 4 slices of bread (brioche, challah, or thick sandwich bread works best)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (or cream for richer flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for cooking
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the egg mixture:

  • In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

2. Soak the bread:

  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, letting it soak for 10–20 seconds per side. Don’t oversaturate, or it will fall apart.

3. Cook the French toast:

  • Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook soaked bread slices 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

4. Serve:

  • Serve immediately with your favorite toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, or whipped cream.

Tips

  • Thicker bread like brioche or challah absorbs the custard without falling apart.
  • Keep warm: Place cooked French toast on a baking sheet in a 200°F (90°C) oven while cooking the rest.
  • Make ahead: You can prepare the egg mixture and soak bread ahead of time, then cook just before serving.

I can also give you a baked French toast casserole version for serving a crowd—it’s easy to prep ahead and just bake in the oven. Do you want that version?
