Here’s a classic French toast recipe that never fails.


Classic French Toast

Serves: 2–3

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bread (thick-cut; brioche or challah = best)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter for cooking

Instructions

  1. Make custard
    • Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Dip bread
    • Dip each slice quickly (don’t soak too long or it’ll get soggy).
  3. Cook
    • Heat skillet over medium.
    • Melt butter.
    • Cook bread 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Serve
    • Top with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fruit.
