French fries

Posted on February 28, 2026 by Admin

French fries are crispy, golden strips of fried potatoes—one of the world’s most popular comfort foods. They can be deep-fried, baked, or air-fried, and seasoned in countless ways.

🍟 Classic Homemade French Fries

Ingredients

  • 3–4 large russet potatoes
  • Oil for frying (vegetable, peanut, or canola)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions (Crispy Method)

  1. Prep the potatoes:
Peel (optional) and cut into even sticks. Rinse in cold water to remove excess starch.
  2. Soak (important for crispiness):
Soak fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours). Drain and pat completely dry.
  3. First fry (blanch):
Heat oil to 325°F (163°C). Fry potatoes in batches for 3–5 minutes until soft but not browned. Remove and drain.
  4. Second fry (crisp):
Increase oil temperature to 375°F (190°C). Fry again for 2–4 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. Season & serve:
Sprinkle with salt immediately after frying. Serve hot.

🔥 Oven-Baked Version

  • Toss cut potatoes with 2–3 tbsp oil and salt.
  • Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  • Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 30–40 minutes, flipping halfway through.

🌬️ Air Fryer Version

  • Toss potatoes with 1–2 tbsp oil.
  • Air fry at 380°F (193°C) for 18–22 minutes, shaking halfway.

Flavor Variations

  • Garlic Parmesan: Toss with minced garlic, parsley, and grated Parmesan.
  • Cajun-style: Add paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Loaded fries: Top with cheese, bacon, sour cream, and green onions.
  • Sweet potato fries: Use sweet potatoes and season with cinnamon or smoked paprika.
