Foil-Wrapped Potatoes

Posted on February 26, 2026 by Admin

Here’s an easy and delicious way to make foil-wrapped potatoes — perfect for the oven, grill, or campfire.

🥔 Foil-Wrapped Potatoes

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 medium potatoes (Russet, Yukon Gold, or red potatoes)
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried herbs (rosemary, thyme, or parsley, optional)
  • Aluminum foil

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • If grilling, preheat grill to medium heat.

2️⃣ Prepare Potatoes

  • Wash and scrub potatoes. Pat dry.
  • Optional: poke a few holes with a fork to prevent bursting.

3️⃣ Season

  • Rub each potato with olive oil or butter.
  • Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and herbs.

4️⃣ Wrap in Foil

  • Wrap each potato individually in foil, sealing tightly.

5️⃣ Cook

  • Oven: Place on baking sheet and bake 45–60 minutes, depending on size, until tender.
  • Grill: Place directly on grill grates over medium heat, 45–60 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • Campfire: Nestle in hot coals for 45–60 minutes, turning occasionally.

6️⃣ Serve

  • Carefully unwrap (steam will be hot!).
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, chives, or bacon bits.

Tips

  • Faster cooking: Slice potatoes into wedges or cubes before wrapping.
  • Extra flavor: Add a clove of garlic or a sprig of rosemary inside the foil with each potato.
  • Crispy skin: For a crispier skin, unwrap for the last 10 minutes of cooking in the oven or grill.

I can also give you a loaded foil-wrapped potato version with cheese, bacon, and green onions if you want a full “loaded baked potato” style.

Do you want me to make that version?
