Fish soup

Hereโ€™s a simple and tasty fish soup recipe you can make at home. ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฒ

Ingredients

  • 500 g fish (any firm fish like rohu, tilapia, or cod), cut into pieces
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small piece ginger, grated
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1โ€“2 green chilies (optional) ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ
  • 4 cups water or fish/chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • ยฝ tsp turmeric powder
  • ยฝ tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander (cilantro), chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice ๐Ÿ‹

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat.
  2. Sautรฉ aromatics: Add onion and cook until soft. Add garlic and ginger; cook for about 1 minute.
  3. Add tomato & spices: Stir in tomato, turmeric, black pepper, and salt. Cook until tomatoes soften.
  4. Pour in water/stock and bring it to a boil.
  5. Add fish pieces and reduce heat. Let it simmer for about 10โ€“12 minutes until the fish is cooked.
  6. Finish the soup: Add green chilies, lemon juice, and fresh coriander.
  7. Taste and adjust salt/pepper.

Serving

Serve hot with:

  • Bread or toast ๐Ÿž
  • Steamed rice ๐Ÿš

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: For a richer soup, you can add a little coconut milk or a small piece of butter at the end.
