Crockpot Steak & Potato Ranch

Posted on February 27, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a tasty and easy recipe for Crockpot Steak & Potato Ranch—a creamy, hearty meal that practically makes itself in the slow cooker:

Ingredients (Serves 4–6):

  • 1–1.5 lbs beef steak (sirloin, chuck, or stew meat), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (or 2–3 tbsp homemade ranch)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional, for creamy finish)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare ingredients:
Dice potatoes, chop onion, and cut steak into bite-sized chunks.
  2. Layer in crockpot:
Place potatoes and onion in the bottom of the crockpot. Season steak with salt, pepper, and ranch seasoning, then place over the potatoes. Sprinkle any remaining ranch mix over the top.
  3. Add liquid:
Pour beef broth over everything to keep it moist.
  4. Cook:
Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until steak is tender and potatoes are cooked through.
  5. Add creaminess (optional):
About 15–20 minutes before serving, stir in sour cream and top with shredded cheese. Cover until cheese melts and everything is creamy.
  6. Serve:
Garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot—perfect as a one-pot meal!

Optional twist: You can add carrots or bell peppers for extra veggies, or swap the cheddar for Monterey Jack for a milder flavor.

If you want, I can also give a dump-and-go version where you layer everything raw in the crockpot and set it without browning—super easy for busy days. Do you want that version?
