Creamed peas on toast

Here’s a simple, comforting Creamed Peas on Toast recipe. 🌱🍞


Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • Β½ tsp salt
  • ΒΌ tsp black pepper
  • 4 slices toast
  • Optional: ΒΌ cup diced ham or bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Cook the peas
    • Boil peas in a small pot for about 3–4 minutes until tender.
    • Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the cream sauce
    • Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
    • Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Add milk
    • Slowly whisk in the milk.
    • Cook until the sauce thickens (about 3–5 minutes).
  4. Season and combine
    • Add salt and pepper.
    • Stir in the cooked peas and optional ham or bacon.
  5. Serve
    • Spoon the creamed peas over warm toast.
