🍽 Creamy Mushroom Hamburger Bake

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • ½ small onion, finely chopped (optional)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for firmer patties)
  • 1 egg (optional binder)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk or water
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Optional: sliced fresh mushrooms

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Form the Patties

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg (if using), salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix gently and form into 4–6 oval patties.
  3. Place raw patties into the baking dish.

3. Prepare the Sauce

  1. In a separate bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup with milk or water until smooth.
  2. Stir in Worcestershire sauce if using.
  3. Pour mixture evenly over the raw patties, covering them well.
  4. Optional: Scatter sliced mushrooms on top.

4. Bake

  • Cover with foil and bake 45–55 minutes until patties reach 160°F (71°C) internally.
  • Remove foil during the last 10 minutes if you want slight browning.

Serve With

  • Mashed potatoes
  • White rice
  • Egg noodles
  • Steamed green beans or peas

  • Don’t overmix the meat — keeps patties tender.
  • Add a splash of beef broth for a thinner gravy.
