Classic choice 🥬 Here’s a creamy, crunchy coleslaw that goes with everything from BBQ to fried chicken.


Classic Creamy Coleslaw

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 small head green cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • ¼ cup onion, finely sliced (optional)

Dressing

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1½ tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp milk or buttermilk (for thinner dressing)

Instructions

  1. Prep the veggies
    • Add cabbage, carrot, and onion to a large bowl.
  2. Make the dressing
    • In a small bowl, whisk together mayo, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and milk.
  3. Combine
    • Pour dressing over cabbage mixture.
    • Toss until evenly coated.
  4. Chill
    • Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra tangy: add more vinegar or a squeeze of lemon.
  • Southern style: add 1 tsp Dijon mustard.
  • Sweet slaw: add a little more sugar or honey.
  • Vinegar slaw (no mayo): swap mayo for olive oil and extra vinegar.

Perfect with pulled pork, fried fish, or burgers.
