Here’s a festive, colorful treat that’s perfect for cookie trays and holiday gifting — sweet, chewy, and loaded with red & green candies.
🎄 Christmas Nougat Bars
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 bag (10 oz) mini marshmallows
- 1 bag (11 oz) white chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups red & green gumdrops (cut in halves if large)
- 1/2–1 cup red & green maraschino cherries, well drained and chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the pan:
Line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it. - Melt base:
In a large saucepan over low heat, melt butter.
Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth. - Add white chocolate:
Remove from heat and stir in white chocolate chips until melted and smooth. - Fold in candy:
Let mixture cool slightly (2–3 minutes), then gently fold in gumdrops (and cherries if using). - Press into pan:
Spread mixture evenly into prepared pan. Lightly grease hands or spatula to prevent sticking. - Chill:
Refrigerate 2–3 hours until firm. - Slice into bars or squares.
✨ Tips for Best Results
- Make sure cherries are VERY dry to avoid sticky nougat.
- Spray your knife with cooking spray before slicing.
- Store layered between wax paper in an airtight container.
- Keeps in fridge up to 2 weeks or freeze up to 2 months.
If you’d like a version with nuts or a traditional stovetop nougat (more candy-like and less marshmallow-based), I can share that too!
