Chicken Marsala 🍗🍄
Chicken Marsala is a classic Italian-American dish featuring pan-seared chicken breasts in a rich mushroom and Marsala wine sauce. It’s elegant, flavorful, and surprisingly easy to make at home.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts, thinly pounded
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ½ cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
- 3 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- ¾ cup Marsala wine
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 2 tbsp butter (optional, for finishing)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken
Season chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge lightly in flour, shaking off excess. - Cook the chicken
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside. - Cook the mushrooms
In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms and garlic until softened and lightly browned. - Make the sauce
Pour in Marsala wine and chicken broth, scraping up browned bits from the pan. Simmer 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened. - Finish the dish
Return chicken to the pan and spoon sauce over the top. Stir in butter for extra richness if desired. - Serve
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
Serving Ideas 🍽️
- Over mashed potatoes or pasta
- With steamed green beans or asparagus
- Pair with crusty bread to soak up the sauce
💡 Tip:
- For a lighter version, substitute half the Marsala wine with chicken broth.
- Pounding the chicken to even thickness ensures quick, even cooking.
