Cheesy potatoes

Posted on March 8, 2026 by Admin

Cheesy potatoes are a comforting dish made with potatoes baked or cooked with cheese and a creamy sauce. They’re popular as a side dish with chicken, steak, or barbecue.

🥔 Basic Cheesy Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4–5 medium potatoes (peeled and diced or sliced)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • Optional: onions, green onions, bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes in salted water for about 10–12 minutes until slightly tender.
  2. Make the sauce: In a pan, melt butter and sauté garlic for 1 minute. Add milk/cream and heat gently.
  3. Add cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
  4. Mix with potatoes and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bake (optional): Put everything in a baking dish, sprinkle extra cheese on top, and bake at about 180 °C (350 °F) for 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.

🧀 Variations

  • Loaded cheesy potatoes: add bacon, sour cream, and green onions.
  • Garlic cheesy potatoes: extra garlic and parsley.
  • Spicy cheesy potatoes: add chili flakes or jalapeños.

If you want, I can also show you the restaurant-style cheesy potatoes (like steakhouse or KFC-style) that are extra creamy and crispy on top.
