🥖 Soft Bread Roll

A classic bread roll is soft, fluffy, and slightly golden—a perfect side for dinner, sandwiches, or just slathered with butter.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg

Optional for topping: egg wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp water) or sesame seeds

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Activate Yeast

  • Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl.
  • Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. Make the Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
  • Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.
  • Stir until a soft dough forms.

3. Knead

  • Knead on a floured surface 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Or use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5–6 minutes.

4. First Rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled.

5. Shape Rolls

  • Punch down dough and divide into 10–12 pieces.
  • Shape into balls and place on a greased baking sheet.
  • Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.

6. Bake

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Optional: brush rolls with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds.
  • Bake 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool slightly before serving.

⭐ Pro Tips:

  • Warm milk helps activate the yeast.
  • Dough should be soft but not sticky—add flour sparingly.
  • Brushing with butter after baking gives a soft, shiny finish.

I can also provide a restaurant-style soft, fluffy bread roll recipe like the ones served at Panera Bread, with an airy interior and perfectly golden crust.

Do you want me to make that version?
