🟤 Boudin Balls

Boudin balls are a crispy Louisiana Cajun appetizer made from seasoned pork and rice sausage (boudin), rolled into balls, breaded, and deep-fried until golden brown. They’re crunchy on the outside and soft, savory, and flavorful inside.

🥄 Ingredients (Makes 12–16 balls)

  • 1 lb boudin sausage (casings removed)
  • 1–2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1–2 cups breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or peanut oil)

Optional:

  • ½ tsp Cajun seasoning (if you want extra kick)
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare boudin:
Remove sausage from casings. If mixture seems very soft, chill 20–30 minutes to firm up.

2️⃣ Form balls:
Roll into 1½-inch balls and place on a tray.

3️⃣ Set up breading station:

  • Bowl 1: Flour
  • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs
  • Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs

4️⃣ Bread:
Roll each ball in flour → dip in egg → coat in breadcrumbs.
For extra crunch, double dip in egg and breadcrumbs.

5️⃣ Fry:
Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels or a wire rack.

6️⃣ Serve hot with dipping sauce.

🥣 Dipping Sauce Ideas

  • Creole mustard sauce
  • Spicy mayo (mayo + hot sauce)
  • Remoulade sauce
  • Honey mustard

🌟 Tips for Perfect Boudin Balls

  • Keep oil temperature steady at 350°F.
  • Don’t overcrowd the fryer.
  • Chill formed balls before frying if mixture is too loose.
  • Air fryer option: Spray with oil and cook at 375°F for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
