Posted on February 10, 2026 by Admin

Oooh, solid choice 😋 Here’s an easy baked sweet and sour chicken that’s crispy, tangy, and way lighter than takeout.

🍗 Baked Sweet & Sour Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
  • Salt & pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ½ cup flour
  • Cooking spray or oil

Sauce

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

🔥 How to Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Coat the chicken:
    • Season chicken with salt & pepper.
    • Dip pieces in cornstarch → egg → flour.
  3. Bake once:
    • Arrange chicken in the dish, spray lightly with oil.
    • Bake 20 minutes.
  4. Flip it:
    • Turn chicken pieces, bake another 20 minutes.
  5. Make the sauce:
    • Whisk all sauce ingredients together.
  6. Sauce + bake again:
    • Pour sauce over chicken.
    • Bake 10 minutes, flip chicken, bake another 10 minutes.

✨ Pro Tips

  • Want extra crisp? Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
  • Add bell peppers, pineapple chunks, or onions in the last 20 minutes.
  • Serve over jasmine rice or fried rice = 🔥

If you want a less sweet, more tangy, or air-fryer version, tell me your vibe and I’ll tweak it.
