A classic for a reason 🥔✨ Here’s how to make perfect baked potatoes—crispy skin, fluffy inside, every time.

Baked Potatoes

Ingredients

  • Russet potatoes (1 per person)
  • Olive oil
  • Kosher salt
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, chives, chili, etc.

Oven Method (Best Texture)

  1. Heat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Scrub potatoes clean and dry well.
  3. Poke each potato 4–6 times with a fork.
  4. Rub lightly with olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt.
  5. Place directly on the oven rack (or on a rack over a baking sheet).
  6. Bake 45–60 minutes, until skin is crisp and a knife slides in easily.
  7. Slice open, fluff with a fork, add toppings.

Extra Crispy Skin Tip

  • After baking, brush with a little butter and pop back in the oven for 5 more minutes.

Faster Options

  • Microwave + oven combo:
    Microwave 5–7 minutes (flip halfway), then oven 15–20 minutes.
  • Air fryer:
