Baked beans

Homemade Baked Beans 🫘🍅🔥
Sweet, savory, and slightly smoky—great as a side dish for BBQ or family meals.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cans (15 oz / ~425 g each) baked beans or navy beans (drained if plain)
  • 4 slices beef or turkey bacon, chopped (optional)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp molasses (optional but adds deep flavor)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven

  • Set oven to 350°F (175°C).

2️⃣ Cook bacon and onion

  • In a skillet, cook chopped bacon until slightly crispy.
  • Add chopped onion and cook until soft.

3️⃣ Mix ingredients

  • In a baking dish, combine:
    • Beans
    • Cooked bacon and onions
    • Ketchup
    • Brown sugar
    • Mustard
    • Molasses
    • Garlic powder, salt, and pepper
  • Stir well.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 35–45 minutes until thick and bubbly.

🍽️ Optional Add-Ins

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika for smoky flavor
  • 1 tbsp BBQ sauce for extra richness
  • Chopped green peppers

Instead of baking, simmer everything in a pot for 20 minutes until thick.
