Posted on February 26, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, flaky, homemade apple pie — sweet, warmly spiced, and perfect for any occasion.

🍎 Classic Apple Pie

Ingredients (Serves 8)

For the filling:

  • 6–7 apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar (adjust based on sweetness of apples)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (or cornstarch)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For the crust:

  • 1 double pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp coarse sugar (optional, for topping)

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

2️⃣ Prepare filling

In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, vanilla, and salt. Let sit 10–15 minutes.

3️⃣ Assemble pie

  • Roll out bottom crust into a 9-inch pie dish.
  • Add apple filling and spread evenly.
  • Place top crust over filling (whole or lattice).
  • Trim, seal, and crimp edges.
  • Cut small slits if using a full top crust.

4️⃣ Egg wash

Beat egg with milk and brush over crust. Sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.

5️⃣ Bake

  • Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake another 35–45 minutes, until crust is golden and filling is bubbling.
  • Cover edges with foil if browning too quickly.

6️⃣ Cool

Let cool at least 2 hours before slicing so filling sets.

Serving Ideas

  • Warm with vanilla ice cream
  • With whipped cream
  • Drizzled with caramel sauce

If you’d like, I can give you a Dutch apple pie (crumb topping) version, a deep-dish version, or a quick apple pie using puff pastry.
