🍝 American Goulash

American goulash is a hearty, one-pot comfort dish popular in the United States. Unlike the traditional Hungarian goulash, American goulash typically combines ground beef, pasta, and tomato sauce with mild seasonings for a simple, filling meal.

🥘 Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14–16 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

👨‍🍳 How to Make American Goulash

  1. Cook the beef
    • Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add vegetables
    • Sauté onions and garlic until softened.
  3. Add tomatoes and seasonings
    • Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes.
  4. Cook the pasta
    • Stir in elbow macaroni and 1–2 cups water or broth. Cover and simmer 10–12 minutes until pasta is tender.
  5. Add cheese (optional)
    • Stir in shredded cheddar or sprinkle on top before serving.
